And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor,
When Jesus spoke man into his own image, he did so with a complexity that is still only dimly understood by the brightest minds of our day. When Adam and Eve saw Jesus coming and spending time with them in the garden, they felt totally at ease. One day an unexpected counselor showed up and explained that they had a problem that he could help them solve. They listened and suddenly found out they had listened to very bad counsel indeed. Now their lives were full of pain, fear and confusion. Ever since then, men and women have looked for someone to help them make decisions that would get them out of the messes they were in. Of course, Satan and his followers have always been more than willing to give counsel based on solutions that would only create more problems. Even when well meaning friends and trained counselors offer solutions they usually fall short of discovering the real problem and the God approved solutions that really work. God has been working on this issue since time began by giving clear guidelines and sending prophets and teachers to lay out his truth, but our sin nature makes it really hard to believe and obey what God tells us will lead to his perfect peace.
At just the right time God sent his son Jesus, the one who spoke the universe into place, to live as a man in a human body in a real difficult time and place to fully experience the reality of making God based decisions. He was tempted in every way like we are, but never got taken in by bad counsel. When faced with the decision to die in our place, he said yes to his Heavenly Father and no to his fears. He paid the price for our sins, came back to life as our triumphant Savior and is now is seated with his Father as our faithful representative and High Priest. Now Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords and once we trust him as our Savior and Lord he is willing to give us his perfect, wonderful counsel any time we are willing to want it and ask for it. He understands the complexity of every one of our situations and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and his Holy Word will lead us to the next steps of faith that will keep us on his chosen perfect plan for our lives. Soon he will come as Lord of all and set up his kingdom here on earth and his government will be without sin or corruption. Those who are genuine children of God will live in peace and safety for the thousand years this earthly kingdom is designed to last. When this sin scared earth is finally burned up, everyone in God’s family will live in perfect peace and security on the new earth under the leadership of our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. Thank you Father for giving us your wonderful counsel from our Wonderful Counselor, Jesus.
Isaiah 9:6 For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 His government and its peace will never end. . . .
