Demonstrating God's powerful love

Good morning,

We live in a world defined by contrasts.  We define time by light and darkness that makes up a day in time.  We live in a world defined by heat and cold that marks the seasons of our years.  We live life defined by birth and death that defines our life here on earth.  Spiritually we live in a world that is defined by oppressive darkness that constantly does it’s best to overcome the light of the world, Jesus.  Since sin has become a part of this beautiful creation of the Lord God Almighty, sin has done it’s best to convince us that the good God is bad and the bad rebel, Satan, is really our friend.  The God of Creation created this world because of his love, but sin has done it’s best to convince us that love is what others do to make us happy and fulfilled.  When the president of Iran spoke to the UN about bringing love and peace to the world, he was talking about an enforced obedience to their religious standards.  When God talks to us about love, he is talking to us about an open relationship with our Creator that gives us freedom, peace and joy throughout time and eternity.

As the darkness deepens, our Father calls us to do what only his family can do.  He calls us to live our lives based on his love for us and our love for those around us.  God designed life for us around the reality that even if he can’t be seen, his family members will show the world what he looks like.  When we genuinely love one another by the power of his Holy Spirit, we give the world proof that the God of the Bible thinks and acts like we do.  He is not a reflection of us, we are a reflexion of him.  Since God’s kids still have a sin nature to deal with, love shows up when we treat unloving people with forgiveness, patience and kindness that can only come from a source greater than we are.  When Paul was dealing with this same challenge he wrote, “We bless those who curse us. We are patient with those who abuse us.  We appeal gently when evil things are said about us.” ( I Cor. 4: 12-13)  May our lives be living proof that the One living in us is greater than the one who trying to win control over those who are living rebellious lives all around us.

1 John 4:11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. 13 And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us.
