The Lord God, the Almighty!
The year 2020 is only two months old and yet we are all finding ourselves faced with all kinds of unexpected complications. All over the world our countries are faced with all sorts of demands for changes and for many countries, war and destruction have become the new way of trying to stay alive. Now nations all over the world are facing a new war called Coronavirus. This deadly bug is threatening people at every level. Right now it’s the right kind of bug anyone can get, and some will die with it. The weather all over the world is crazy, and people are beginning to face anger and fear as the new normal way of living. Why is all this happening? The only way God’s family will be able understand these days is to listen to the God of the Bible.
Jesus tells us that, "I am the Alpha and the Omega–the beginning and the end," says the Lord God. "I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come–the Almighty One.”(Rev.1:8) Everything that is going on around us is part of God’s eternal plan for the world he has made as the Holy, Loving, in control Lord of all.We hear a lot about Him as Savior and Lord, but our enemy does his best to hide the fact that he also requires those who he has given life, to obey the rules that he has laid out for us to live by willingly during our time on the earth. History has made it all too clear that, When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily.(Pro.28:2) That’s were we are in our world these days. Very early in the Bible the Lord told his people, "If you will listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and keeping all his decrees, then I will not make you suffer any of the diseases I sent on the Egyptians;(Ex.15:26) He also told them, "However, if you do not listen to me or obey all these commands, - - I will punish you. I will bring sudden terrors upon you–wasting diseases and burning fevers that will cause your eyes to fail and your life to ebb away.(Lev.26:14,16) In another place he said, The LORD will strike you with wasting diseases, fever, and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, and with blight and mildew. These disasters will pursue you until you die.(Deu.28:22) The Bible tells us so much more about what people in rebellion to him will face in time and in eternity. We dare not forget that our God is the only genuine God, and he has every right do what he does with those who love him and those who hate him.
For those of us who are genuine children of God, we will still have to live with fear and hate. But it is different for us because we are told, "Don't be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.(Mat.10:28) We need to keep going back to what Jesus promised us. "I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid.(Jn.14:27) Moses had it right when he said - -
Deuteronomy 32:3 I will proclaim the name of the LORD; how glorious is our God! 4 He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect. Everything he does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is!
