Good morning,
Our Mighty Warrior
Last week we were talking about the fact that the Lord gives His children a set of armor that protects us from the attacks of our spiritual and human enemies. But it is really important to remember that we are not in this spiritual battle alone. Our enemy Satan and those who follow him do their best to get us to think of ourselves as stand alone individuals who are being attacked by an overwhelming force. That is a lie that has been around since the first sin in the Garden of Eden. The God of the Bible tells us the truth. Who has done such mighty deeds, summoning each new generation from the beginning of time? It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last. I alone am he.”(Isa.41:4) The God who has given us life has also given us his promise that we would have his plan, His love, His protection and His eternal rewards to any of us who were willing to listen and love and obey Him. Through all the generations of time our God has watched over all of those who would follow him. Yes, there has always been a war to fight, but those who are in his family will also know what the psalmist wrote, Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy! Restore our fortunes, Lord, as streams renew the desert.(Ps.126:3,4) No matter what challenges we face, our Lord sees to it that the battles that we go through will have a positive result for us in time and in eternity. The psalmist reminds us that, Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.(vs.5,6)
When Jeremiah was going through the challenges that he faced year after year, he confidently said, But the Lord stands beside me like a great warrior. Before him my persecutors will stumble. They cannot defeat me.(20.11) And when Isaiah was going through his very challenging life, God told him, Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.(Isa.41:10) The God we have learned to know and trust from the truths that we have learned from his Book of Truth, the Bible, will always be the same no matter what era of time we have lived here on earth. Yes, we will always know challenges and temptations, fear and folly, disappointment and frustration, but all of these negatives will melt away as we learn to trust our Savior and Lord. He knows how to teach us the lessons that also lead to joy and singing and praise. He will never back away from our enemy for any reason. Our God is a Great Warrior who know how to hold our hands and calm our troubled hearts so that when the right time comes we will be able to join all our other brothers and sisters in our eternal home in Heaven. Again, remember what Paul said to the Christians of his generation, For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. (Phi.1:29) Again. what is the source of strength that the Lord has given us in this battle? So I advise you to live according to your new life in the Holy Spirit. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves.(Gal.5:16) Dear Lord, please help us to remember that you, as our Father God. always is in control of our lives and our future as we keep holding your hand no matter what circumstances we are facing today.
Isaiah 41:4 Who has done such mighty deeds, summoning each new generation from the beginning of time? It is I, the Lord, the First and the Last. I alone am he.”
