Good morning,
The light of the world
When the Apostle John wrote the story of Jesus’ life on earth, he didn’t begin in time. His story started in eternity. John wrote, In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God.(Jn.1:1,2) Jesus has always been alive and here was identified as the Word. When the time came to begin what we know as time, Jesus was the one who spoke the words that made it happen. (v.3) When Jesus was talking to Job about what happened then, he asked Job what he knew about, "What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone as the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?"(Job 38:6) God’s good plan for our world started with singing and shouting and joy. Then, The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. (v.4) Then John wrote something that we find very easy to forget. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. (v.5) When Jesus was born as a human baby, how did heaven respond to his arrival? Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others–the armies of heaven–praising God and saying, "Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”(Lk.2:13,14) Why all the celebration when they knew that the darkness was a part of the plan? The angels in heaven knew that God was holy and loving and that what he was doing was part of his bigger plan. They also knew that God always wins.
Jesus came as a man, but Jesus also knew why he came. Jesus came to do what only he could do. He came to live a perfect life, die a willing death, and pay the price for all of our sins. This loving gift stripped Satan of any power that he had because we were sinful people who had rebelled against our holy God. Jesus came because he loved his world and the people who lived there. Jesus was sent to be our Savior and to be a test of our love for the God who gave us life. Jesus said, "All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. (John 12:23) Jesus also came to change the way people who trusted him would live their lives here on earth by guiding them through the darkness that Satan had thrown them. The promise God gave us is, But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.(1Jn.1:7) Jesus also promised his followers that, "I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid.(Jn.14:27) The light that God would give us would allow us to live lives here on earth that would be useful and effective in time as well as in eternity. This light also means that God’s family will be able to see our enemies for who they are and be confident that the Light Of The World Is Jesus. He always wins, He Never Loses!!
John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
