Good morning,
. . . we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.
Have you noticed how much we depend on the dream world to protect us from the real world that we live in every day. Our media and our politicians and our religious leaders do their best to get us to think in terms that will drive us, or promise us impossible prosperity, or make us think of the future without believing what the Creator God has told us. The media outlets are flooding us with pictures of fearful things, as though there is no one in control of what evil can accomplish. Our politicians make bold and impossible promises to bring life back into a safe and prosperous life style, as though sin and rebellion have nothing to do with the judgment that God has promised those who turn against him. Our religious leaders are preaching the benefits of love and respect and human effort while leaving out the power of sin and the need for repentance and the requirement that we live by faith in the God of the Bible. We are surrounded by a dream world that is built on the lies of the master liar, Satan. We are told to give up, keep up, or keep looking up as though life was in our control.
The child of God never needs to give up. We are living out our God’s perfect plan for each of our lives. It’s true that our bodies are getting older and folks we know are dying around us, but our spirits are being renewed every day as we live out our lives according to God’s master plan. It’s true that we are facing all sorts of troubles, but we know that it’s part of God’s plan to use us as examples of God’s love and power through the challenges he has built into our lives. As God’s kids we know that our pain will soon lead to eternal glory that makes everything we are going through worth while for all the rest of eternity.(2Cor. 4:16,17) God gives his kids glimpses of the real world around us and the real world yet to come. He helps us see life through his filter, the filter of truth, rather than believe the lies that are flooding around us. God hasn’t given us a dream world. He longs for us to live our lives by faith in his will and plan, the real world that will never be destroyed. We may not be able to see everything clearly right now, but we know that we can follow our Good Shepherd who sees everything perfectly. Thank you Lord that all the confusion around us will soon be gone and all the eternal things you have planned for your kids will soon be our to enjoy forever.
2 Corinthians 4:18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
