Good morning,
Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives. Psalms 90:14
The word love has many meanings or flavors to the world around us, but none of them can compare with the reality of God’s unfailing love. Our Enemy does his best to define this holy word, love, in ways that keep us focused on ourselves or on the guidelines set up by the world around us. All those definitions lead to disappointment or disaster, but the God who gave us life has something far more wonderful for us then anything we could ever imagine. Our Father God has decided to love those who love him in return with an eternal, unfailing love. Our God offers his love to everyone, but only those who are willing to accept his love and his authority will ever be able to experience his pure and holy love. The beauty and power of God’s love is so complex and personal that none of us can ever get to the point of understanding it in all of its fullness.
For me, one of the most helpful aspects of love is what happens as I experience in my own life the stories and examples of God at work in the Bible. It’s wonderfully exciting to have read a verse or a passage that has comes alive in my mind in the morning only to find myself living by that truth later in the day. Finding a new truth, or being reminded of an old truth that comes alive in my daily life really does give me the kind of joy that leads to the words or even singing the music that expresses the joy in my heart. It’s also exciting to hear someone else tell me their story of what God has done for them or to them that has opened their hearts to the reality of God’s love. What joy when we realize that the Lord can reveal himself to anyone in such a personal way that God’s focused love is just what we need, when we need it. He knows our age and stage in life. He knows our culture and our ideas of what we think is real at any point in time. Our loving father knows how to get our attention and waits until we are ready to deal with another growth step in life. Our Heavenly Father is never our accuser. However, he can be quite firm when he is moving us along toward maturity so that we will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. We are loved by a perfect father who will keep on loving us perfectly for the rest of time and the rest of eternity. Thank you Father for your kind of holy love!
Ephesians 3:19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
