Where is the judge in this war?

Good morning,

Well, it seems to me that we are finally getting back to what some folks would call Old Testament morality.  Just last week we were confronted with a group of very determined religious fighters who were making quick work of undoing what some people called a democratic government that had been set up by countries like America over ten years ago.  The fighters plan had the approval of their religious leaders and led to the capture of some very important cities in this troubled country.  As they moved to attack the capitol city they were credited with terrorizing millions of citizens, killing thousands of people and imposing their form of religious law on everyone they conquered.  According to the information we received, they were particularly targeting the Christians in the conquered areas.  This approach to battle and conquest is nothing like the gentlemen’s wars we have been taught to fight when facing our enemies.  Civilians and children are treated with deadly hatred.  How could this be?  Where is God when all these modern savages treat their enemies this way?

As the Apostle John was finishing the final book of the Bible, Revelation, Jesus told him to write something that most of us find really hard to believe.  We grow up on justice and forgiveness and love and turning the other cheek, so how could the God of love take such a “casual” approach to all this unbiblical treatment that is being imposed on a growing number of nations and people groups?  We, by nature, cry out “Stop right now” but God said to write “Let the one who is doing harm continue to do harm; let the one who is vile continue to be vile;”  Isn’t God there?  Doesn’t he care?  Yes he is there and he cares more than we ever could.  He also said, “let the one who is righteous continue to live righteously; let the one who is holy continue to be holy.” We keep forgetting that the Lord of time and eternity is giving each person the opportunity to turn to their creator or turn away from their creator.  Each of us have a free will.  How we live our lives in time will determine where and how we will live in eternity.  Can the Lord protect his own in the middle of this savagery?  Of course he can.  If he calls his kids home suddenly, has he done a bad thing?  What has the judge of all mankind said to remember? “Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.”  Those who proved themselves to be rebels will be judged accordingly.  Those who proved to be righteous and holy will receive their eternal rewards for the life of faith they lived in time.  Dear Lord, please help us to trust and wait until your plan for time has worked out to your satisfaction.

Revelation 22: 11 Let the one who is doing harm continue to do harm; let the one who is vile continue to be vile; let the one who is righteous continue to live righteously; let the one who is holy continue to be holy.” 12 “Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.
