There is always enough

Good morning,

Have you ever wondered what Moses planned to do about feeding all the people and animals he led out of Egypt.  We think that we have a challenge.  A million plus people with all their herds and flocks leaving lush green Egypt for a trip into the wilderness.  Now that is a challenge.  The trip that could be done easily in a month went South instead of North through an impossibly wide and deep sea into a blazing wilderness that was dead and gray, not well watered and green.  On top of that, the people that he was leading often turned ugly and seemed at the edge of turning back the way they came in direct rebellion to God’s clearly revealed will.  Now that was a challenge for Moses, but not for God.  The God of creation, who held the universe in his hand, never lost any sleep over how he was going to be able to carry out his plan for his chosen people.

For us that was thousands of years ago, but the God of eternity hasn’t aged or gotten weaker since that wonderful demonstration of his ability to take care of his own.  When Jesus was living here with us about two thousand years ago, he brought up the subject to his followers so that they would have another set of promises given especially to them.  Jesus promised to take care of his own and he has been keeping that promise to his body, the Church, ever since.  Since the time of that promise, kingdoms and countries have come and gone, but the God of the stars and planets has made sure that his kids would be taken care of no matter how challenging the circumstances.  Jesus promised us that he has a plan that includes the food we need to eat, the clothes we need to wear and everything we will need in our cultural context to live out his plan for our lives.  Jesus pointed out that God was actively taking care of the wild birds that fly around us by the billions and that the billions of us living on the earth now are far more valuable to God then they are.  Our election is over, the challenges of a crumbling culture are all around us, but our Father God never changes.  He always keeps his promises.  May God help us to see that there is Never a genuine reason for us to Give Up.

Matthew 6:25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?
