Good morning,
The gift of Genuine Truth!
People all over the world who call themselves Christians have based their claim on their relationship with the God of the Bible. We have just finished celebrating the birth of Jesus, the Son of God, and will soon celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus as our Savior and Lord. The forgotten gift that is always a part of the Godhead is the work of the Holy Spirit in guarding and giving us God’s trustworthy and eternal truth over the thousands of years of our world. Remember in Genesis 1 we are told that the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.(v.2) How is it that Moses was able to write the first five books of the Bible when what he wrote went back thousands of years and looked forward to so much of the future. Peter tells us, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet's own understanding. or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God (2Pet.1:20,21) When the Holy Spirit speaks to us he is always telling us exactly what God has said. So when we read the Old Testament we can be confident that it is all true. When Jesus came as a human, it was the Holy Spirit who was giving the information and the direction and the exact words that were all a part of truths that were given over the thousands of years before this God planned event .
When John the Baptist was preparing the way for Jesus’ ministry on earth he told the people, I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit!”(Mk.1:8) And when Jesus was talking to a good man about God’s standards he said, Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don't be surprised when I say, 'You must be born again.’(Jn.3:6,7) When Jesus was talking to his disciples who loved him, He told them to obey his commandments and that he would send an Advocate in his place. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.(Jn.14:17) As Jesus was preparing to leave the Earth, he told them that, the Holy Spirit–he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.(Jn.14:26) Remember what Jesus told them about the importance of waiting. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.(Acts1:8) He assured them that the Gospel would go to the end of the earth, but it would happen God’s way and not our way. The apostles were always talking about the source of their ministry and Paul wrote, So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. (Gal.5:16) All of this is so important for us to remember because Satan, the hater and liar, always attacks God’s truth. Satan knows what God has said, but as we read it he will do his best to put a subtle twist that makes it possible for us to make up our own minds what that means. The apostle John warns us about other people as well as our enemy who will do their best to get us to believe them. He finishes by saying, For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true–it is not a lie.(1Jn.2:27) Dear Lord, please help us to trust your Holy Spirit’s truth as more important than any other claims of what your Bible tells us.
John 14:15 "If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.
