Believe it or Not
Believe it or not we are living in an age that is awesome and filled with the promises and the purposes of God that are laid out for us in the Bible. All of us really are involved in a life and death battle. Our enemy Satan has done his best to keep us happy or self absorbed while he is laying the groundwork for one of the greatest battles this world will ever know. I believe we are right at the edge of the fulfillment of the end time prophecy in God’s Word. For those of us who consider ourselves to be Christians, Satan has done his best to keep us away from reading God’s truth and at the same time provides a wide range of ungodly teachers and preachers who give us twisted truths. While it’s true that God is loving, God is much more than that. Our God is also holy. Moses also tells us, “The LORD your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords. He is the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and takes no bribes. (Duet,10:17) Then God told Isaiah, For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. (Isa.55: 9). Then Paul tells us in the New Testament, But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who push the truth away from themselves. For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts. Rom.1:18,19) Satan wants us to treat God as a helper without any responsibility for following his guidelines for living on his Earth. God’s response to this attitude toward him is, When they refused to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness,(Rom.1:28,29)
To ordinary sinful people under Satan’s control, the words that God gave us that are holy and perfect were given meanings that made God a wicked bully instead of a loving redeemer. Trusting a God you could not see was replaced by gods that you could see and control if you tried hard enough. When Moses wrote out God’s standards for loving and trusting God, he said to the people following God,“However, if you do not listen to me or obey all these commands, — treating my regulations with contempt, and refusing to obey my commands, I will punish you.(Lev.26:14-16) Since that time and to this very day, the Bible clearly lays out what rebels and hate filled sinners will live with in eternity, and Satan and his followers will be forced to understand that God, shows no partiality and takes no bribes. It’s really true, The wages of sin is death!!(Rom.8:28) And what does Satan say to convince his followers? “How can we be wrong when we have far more people than those few followers of their unseen God.” He also throws in things like “How can a God of love ever think of doing all the bad things against people like us in that Bible book? We have many of our own books that make a lot more sense than that.” And what does God tell his family about the reality of life? Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths. (Prov.3:5-6) Our Enemy calls it lies and heresy but God’s family knows that faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is what frees us from sins control on earth and then for all of eternity. Even though we realize that we are surrounded by sworn enemies, God tells us,“I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them.(Psa.91:14,15)
