Good morning,
Who has the best weapons?
It has been very interesting to read or watch the news these days. While the leaders are talking about how bad their enemies are, they are also becoming more bold about all their weapons and trained armies that they have to fight against their enemies. I think that we would do well to look to our Bibles and see what kind of protection and strength we have as God’s eternal family. For instance, in the Old Testament we are told that there will be four great nations that will rule the earth. The first two kingdoms were led by kings who learned the hard way that war wasn’t just about what you could see. King Nebuchadnezzar bragged about what a great man he was and then God stepped in. After God punished him for his pride, the king wrote to his people, All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He has the power to do as he pleases among the angels of heaven and with those who live on earth. No one can stop him or challenge him, saying, What do you mean by doing these things?’ (Dan,4:35) The king of the next world power, Darius, was tricked by some of his enemies into throwing Daniel into the lions den. Their plan failed when the lions left him alone. That king wrote to his people, “I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, and he will endure forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed, and his rule will never end.(Dan.6:26) Daniel himself was allowed to see what God would do to those who were his enemies where he saw God judging from his throne. He sat on a fiery throne with wheels of blazing fire, and a river of fire flowed from his presence. Millions of angels ministered to him, and a hundred million stood to attend him.(7:9,10) He also saw a man (Jesus) coming to his Father where, He was given authority, honor, and royal power over all the nations of the world, so that people of every race and nation and language would obey him. His rule is eternal—it will never end. His kingdom will never be destroyed.(Dan.7:14)
In the New Testament, Paul, who was allowed a quick trip to heaven, tells us Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see—kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him.(Col.1:16) In the last book of the Bible, Revelation, the Apostle John was allowed to see, a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a mighty shout, “Salvation comes from our God on the throne and from the Lamb!”(Rev.7:9,10) Then he heard the angels shouting, Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and forever. Amen!”(v.12) These are only a small number of verses from the Bible that help us to understand what God is doing all around us. God is still on the throne and his plans for time and eternity will always be the final plans that are carried out while we are here on earth. Dear Lord, please help us to remember that you are the one who always wins. Please give us your strength and peace as we follow your plans for each of our lives. Our God is an awesome God!!
Colossians 1:16 Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see—kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him.
