His rule is everlasting

Good morning,
His rule is everlasting

Those of us who live in what we call a democracy are expected to elect people to office who will lead us through the challenges of life for the next two to four years, depending on the office.  This year our president has two more years before his four year term is up, but now we have what is called the mid term elections for other local and state offices.  Usually we are flooded with information that is designed to get us to vote for people who tell us they can do the job better than any of the other candidates who want to be in that same office.  What makes this election different than any other I have ever experienced is the intense fear and anger and out right hatred that has marked so many of the people involved in the process.  I know that in many countries there are claims of cheating and illegal deals that make the process seem an empty show, but what we forget is that someone greater than the ballot box is in control.  Someone has won the position, but someone else has already decided who will be the winner long before the election took place.  As God’s kids we know that even with all the pressure and pushing that goes with the election, the winner of each office is God’s call, not ours, and he determines who will lead us in the future. King David reminds us that, God has spoken plainly, and I have heard it many times: Power, O God, belongs to you;(Psalm 62:11

No matter what the Enemy of our Savior and our world may be doing, the power to place rulers and to remove them again, is up to Him.  No system of government or powerful leader can stand against the power of the God of the Universe. We are not going through life without the ever present Savior being involved in each of our lives. I find great comfort in the Bible story of the greatest and cruelest king this world will ever see. His name was Nebuchadnezzar, and according to what God said, he would be the most powerful king in all of time. He conquered every kingdom in his time, and enjoyed the power that God had allowed him to control. The prophet Daniel was used by God to warn him that he was forgetting the fact that he was only the king because that was a part of God’s big plan for that time in history. The king didn’t listen to the warning he was given and as a result spent seven years living as a crazy man living in the fields. When God gave him his mind and kingdom back he said about God, His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal. All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him, 'What do you mean by doing these things?’(Dan.4:34,35) Those who foolishly think that they have the power to get what they want, will someday face the Most High God, and will have to pay the price for their rebellion for eternity.  Dear Lord, please help us to remember who is in control.  Not them, not us, but you Lord!

Daniel 4:34 His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal. 35 All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth.
