Good morning,
His plans for my life
If we are human, we are designed to make plans. We start making plans for our lives as babies and soon find that others seem to think that they have the right to make plans for us as well. As we go through the kids and teen years we become even more determined to make plans that will be what we want. We think that our plans will make us feel safe and free from the control by the people around us. When we actually become adults, we are sure that we have the right to call the shots of how things turn out in our lives and also will be able to control the lives of the people around us. What we forget is that there are two more levels of control for our lives that are hidden from most of us that are far more powerful than we are aware of. What we don’t ever think about is that the Devil considers this world his to control and that he thinks that he has the experience of thousands of years of controlling millions of people to get what he wants. We know this to be true because when God was talking to Satan about the man, Job, Satan told God that Job would fail in his faith if God would let him test him his way. He said, But reach out and take away everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!”(Job1:11) The final, and most powerful plan maker that we must deal with is the Creator, The Lord God Almighty. King David had learned this when he wrote, The LORD will work out his plans for my life–for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me.(Psa138:8) Even though he knew God, he still had to struggle with the fears that all sinners must face. As sinners we all think that it is our life, for we learn that we really can’t trust anyone else on earth.
When we read through God’s love letter to those of us who live on God’s earth, we find each book of the Bible was written to show that the God of the Bible really does love each one of us. All those who are willing to trust God the Father, Jesus as our Savior and the Holy Spirit as our source of strength and wisdom will have no real reason to fear. As David expressed it in the Old Testament, I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!(Psa138:7) No matter where we are or what we are doing, your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.(v.10) Even when it seems that we are living totally in the dark, even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.(v.12) In the New Testament the Apostle Paul tells us, I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love.(Rom.8:38) He then adds, No power in the sky above or in the earth below–indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.(v.39) Those of us who are genuine children of God are always being lead by our eternal Lover, Jesus. Jesus tells us, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”(John8:12) Jesus made it clear what we need to focus on in this life. We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.(John9:4)
Dear Lord, please help us to focus on your direction for our lives and not on what we think or want.
Psalms 138:8 The LORD will work out his plans for my life–for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don't abandon me, for you made me.
