Victory over rebelion

Good morning,
Victory over rebellion

When I originally wrote the following Monday Minute ten years ago for the 4th of July, I had no idea how very important these words from our Lord then would be even more important now in these days of rebellion and hatred toward our God and our national leaders all over the world.  Since my battle with the shingles makes it hard for me to focus, the Lord encouraged me to go back ten years to see what I had written then. I am glad I did. I trust that this will help you as it has helped me

Total forgiveness is the most wonderful gift we could ever get from God.  Even though we naturally want to stay in control of our lives, and build our lives on rebellion towards God, he still longs to have us as eternal partners in his glory.  The cross was his answer to both his problem and our problem.  When our Savior died in our place, he  paid the full price for all of the sins of all mankind.  When we trusted Jesus as our Savior we were credited with his perfect payment for our sins.  But there is more.  Not one of us has stopped sinning since we have come into our Father’s family.  We still rebel and put up a relational wall between us and our Father.  We become defiant toward him and he becomes angry with us.  Wonderfully, God has given us a perfect solution to this problem as well.  When we confess our rebellion toward him, he delights in restoring us to a healthy relationship with him.

I am finally beginning to learn that when troubles come it is God’s warning that there is something that I need to deal with that will improve our relationship.  Until pain gets my attention, I am quite willing to keep on living  an unimproved life.  When I need a hiding place, he is there.  When I get my relationship with him back on track, I also get a joyful heart and a grateful spirit that makes life the wonderful adventure he wants for me.  Sometimes  he doesn’t deliver me from the trouble, instead he goes through the trouble with me so that I will be able to be a useful guide to those who are watching me.  I am protected from the destruction that threatens to drown the ungodly in judgment.  Because I am willing to repent when I need to, my loving Heavenly Father is willing to free me from judgment and surround me with heavenly victory that fills my mind and heart with songs of praise.  Lord please help each of us to become known as willing confessors.

Psalms 32:6 Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. 7 For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.
