God's Eternal Bowl

Good morning,
God’s Eternal Bowl

Yesterday there were millions of people all over the world watching what the Americans call the Super Bowl.  Two teams were playing against each other to decide who would be the team of all the other teams that would win the First Prize this year.  Winning the prize in sports or an election or in the battle to control the nations of the world is exciting, but it is nothing compared to what God has planned for those who will win their prizes from the Creator God who created time and our world.  In the book of Revelation it tells us of vast numbers of people all gathered together before the King and Judge to be rewarded for what they have done while going through life here on earth.  One group will be standing in heaven to receive their rewards for their willingness to trust and obey their Savior and Lord. The other group will be standing before God’s white throne to be judged for their rebellion against the God who loved them and gave them life and offered them eternal life, which they refused.  Unlike our Super Bowl now, the losers will not be able to try again next year.  They will spend the rest of eternity in the lake of fire.(Rev.20:15)

What has really fascinated me this last week was thinking about what the Lord has promised each of us who have trusted Jesus as Savior and whose sins have been paid for by the suffering and death and resurrection of Jesus, our Lord. One of the wonderful things about getting to heaven is that we get to start the benefits of salvation before we get to heaven. What we know is that already, we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.(Phil.3:20)  When we leave this world for our home in heaven, we won’t need a passport to get in. We already belong there now.  We won’t need suitcases or special shots because, He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control.(v.21)  Then God tells us that, the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father's Kingdom.(Mat.13:43)  Before Jesus returned to heaven he promise his disciples that , I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the Kingdom of God, will be repaid many times over in this life, and will have eternal life in the world to come.”(Luke18:29,30)  One of our expensive problems now is where we will be able to get a place to live, but Jesus has promised his children, There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?  When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.(John14:2,3) None of us will ever walk around heaven feeling worthless or second class citizens because, when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor.(1Pet.5:4) The Bible tells us so much more, but that will have to wait until next Monday’s Minute, unless it happens that he has already come for us.

Revelation 22:12  "Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.
