Wait patiently for him to act.

Good morning,
Wait patiently?

Where is God when we need him?  The Bible is very clear that God is everywhere all the time and has actually planned out in unbelievable detail all that will be a part of our lives, our countries and what will happen in the battle between the holy goodness of his eternal plan and the challenges of those who hate him.  God has given us the Bible so that we will be aware of his plan from creation of our world to the fiery death of our rebellious planet. King David was a man who knew what it felt like to go through great dark days and great pain and wrote what God had taught him in what we know as Psalm 37.  One of the things he had learned was that he was always living in the presence of the LORD.  He wrote, Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act.(v.7) God’s time line is not based on who we are our how we feel.  God is always doing something that is connected to eternity and to all of the people involved.  Even though David was God’s anointed king, there were lots of lessons needed before he would be able to lead God’s people, God’s way.  One of the important lessons he had to learn was how to deal with evil people. He continued, Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper– it only leads to harm.(vs.7,8) David learned the hard way that an angry heart leads to a painful outcome.

Another thing that David learned was how God responded to the wicked people that were causing him so much trouble. The wicked plot against the godly; they snarl at them in defiance. But the Lord just laughs, for he sees their day of judgment coming.(vs.12,13) God is always holy and will never be controlled by his angry enemies.  God knows that they are not getting away with anything and that they will have to pay an eternal price for their hatred towards him and his children, unless they wake up to their sin, God’s love, and have his forgiveness.   The Lord also knows that his godly children are going to stumble, but he also promises that, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.(v.24) God makes sure that our temptations will not crush us, they will be used to train us and build us and give us the experience we need to keep on following our Good Shepherd. One other lesson that he learned was that, The LORD rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble.(v.39)  What God gets us into, he also gets us out of.  The problem we have with that part of God’s work in our lives is that our Enemy does his best to get us to resent how long it takes for us to learn the lesson. Our Enemy want’s us to focus on our pain and forget to ask God to show us what it is that we are being taught by our circumstances.  Finally he learned that, The LORD helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.(v.40)  The Lord always finishes what he starts.  Some day we will know why and how we had to learn the lesson, but until then he longs for us to wait patiently for him to act.

Psalms 37:7 Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
