Good morning,
My hiding place
One of the most exciting parts of life during these challenging times is the role that our Heavenly Father has for all of us who are living here today. At best, we are only able to see a little of what is happening around us, while our Father has a master plan that includes all of our daily activities and growth opportunities. While our enemies do their best to threaten us with their anger and human power, we have all the advantages of an eternal Savior walking through life with us every day. When Jesus was praying to the Father the evening before his crucifixion, he not only talked about his relationship with his Father, but he also prayed for all the millions of us who would someday be a part of God’s eternal family. Part of what Jesus said was, Now I am departing from the world; they are staying in this world, but I am coming to you. Holy Father, you have given me your name; now protect them by the power of your name so that they will be united just as we are.(John 17:11) That prayer is still a part of life for each of us who are born again children today. That’s not all he asked for us. He also prayed, I'm not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.(v.15) Not one of God’s eternal family ever walks alone through any part of our lives, scary or not, without all the benefits of our loving Father’s protection.
This loving care for his family didn’t just start after our Savior died and arose again. David and the other godly people of their days knew the love of the Lord in the years before this prayer, because our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. In their day the Lord said, "I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.(Ps.91:14) All through history God’s children have had to deal with fear and danger, but God has always been there listening and loving and protecting those who truly loved him in every generation. Our hate filled Enemy and his followers have always done their best to be rid of us, but no angel or person can do what they want with those of us who are under our Father’s loving and powerful care. David knew what it was like to face danger from the time he was a kid until the time that he died as king David, many challenging years later. David had often looked at death in the face only to experience the joy that came from the safety of his hiding place. David wrote, For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.(Ps.32:7) And then he heard the Lord say, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.(v.8) Thank you Father that you are our perfect hiding place, and thank you Lord Jesus for your powerful prayer on our behalf. Dear Lord, help us not to forget that you will never leave us or forsake us, under any circumstances, until we get safely home.
Psalms 32:7 For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory. 8 The LORD says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.
