Good morning,
As you were growing up, what did your parents have to do that was sure to get your attention? I think most of us have stories about when we were stopped by a shout or by “the look” that immediately changed what we were doing. Suddenly we were looking around us with a new focus and a new set of fears. That is exactly what our Heavenly Father does from time to time when his children get lost in the wrong kinds of actions or fear driven thinking. It happened in Isaiah’s day when all sorts of trouble and problems had become the focus on what was happening to them. God told Isaiah to write, The LORD has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does.(Isa,8:11) We have got to remember that the Enemy of our souls will do his best to fill our minds with all sorts of fears and all sorts of problem solving ideas that will keep us focused on our own way of staying safe in our dangerous world. The people all around us are doing the same thing and will do their best to give us their solutions. In our present world the media that is supposed to be showing and telling us the truth of what is happening in our world are very busy bending the “truth” to get us to think their way.
Well, here is what God said, "Don't call everything a conspiracy, like they do, and don't live in dread of what frightens them.(v.12) A good example of this right now is what is going on in the middle eastern part of the world. The nation of Israel is surrounded by all sorts of nations that are determined to wipe this little country off the map and destroy the people that God has called his special people. Powerful people all over the world are doing their best to solve this problem their way. All the solutions that they are coming up with leave our Creator God totally out of their solutions. God goes on to say, Make the LORD of Heaven's Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble.(v.13) The Prophet Ezekiel, 2500 years ago, told us what God is up to in Ezekiel 38 and 39, and his outcome should make these hate filled people live in fear of what God has promised to do to them. God also tells us in these two chapters the wonderful things that will happen to Israel and the Jewish people because of what God, and only God, can do to solve this problem. Then the Lord promises us, He will keep you safe.(v.14) God’s plans always work out his way for nations, and people groups, and every individual person according to his master plan. What God longs for us to do is to read his Word, pray about what he is saying to us, and then as God fearing children, listen to his warnings and his directions so that he will keep his promise to us to keep us safe.
PS. Please read these two chapters carefully. It looks like almost everything God said would happen there is now in place.
