Everything we do for the Lord is useful

Good morning,

Now that the holidays are over and the cold and dark days have replaced the busyness with the challenges of adjusting to a new government and the unsettled conditions that surround us, it’s easy to lose site of the importance of being obedient when life gets back to being normal and ordinary.  Each of us are only one small part of a very large plan.  None of us are quite sure of where we fit in God’s plan and of the importance of what we are doing on a day by day, week by week and month by month schedule. It is amazing to think that in God’s wonderful plan almost all of the details of life seem small and unimportant.  Life seems to be made up of routine choices having no connection to eternity.  That is our human perspective and our enemy does his best to keep reminding us of this assumption.  It is a big lie!  Since God planned our lives in every detail before we began to breath (Psalm 139:16) there is no such thing as a routine day.  There is something eternal about each part of our daily schedule that fits into God’s eternal plan and will result in another small piece of the mosaic of life fitting perfectly into place.  Everything that we do has a purpose.

At this point we have a choice.  We can try to figure out how the parts are fitting together and find ourselves overwhelmed  by complexity, or we can move steadily forward though life enthusiastically celebrating the freedom of living a life that has purpose and meaning in every decision we come to.  This challenge becomes even greater if our present responsibilities seem to be all about planting without any clear proof that what we are doing will have any lasting benefit to us or anyone else.  Now that evil seems to be more and more powerful, our enemy will do his best to make us feel small and useless in the face of their wicked success. We are not wasting our time or wasting our efforts when we do what we are told to do even if what we do brings pain and rejection.   Our Master Planner doesn’t waste anything.  Big or small it will fit into the plan and someday will be the source of joyous celebration.  Never Give Up.  Nothing we do for the Lord is ever useless.

1 Corinthians 15:58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
