Be still and know that I am God

Good morning,

It’s really important that we keep remembering that today isn’t the rest of time and certainly isn’t the rest of eternity. Now that we are in another time in history that is marked by the collapse of nations and the confusion that has overwhelmed our leaders, it is important that we go back to the Book that God has given us that explains what God is up to today.  When John wrote his Gospel, he didn’t begin at Christmas, he began at the beginning. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.(John 1:4,5) The God of the Bible is the one who has started our world in time and no matter how rebellious people become and no matter how confusing things look, God is still in full control of the world he has created. The evil in our world will never be able to conquer the God who has promised that his plans will always be carried out no matter how impossible things look to us today.

The writers in Psalm 46 were living in a very challenging world in their life time but they knew what to do. "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”  The LORD of Heaven's Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.(vs. 10,11) God knows how to use time and circumstances to accomplish his perfect plan.  Now thousands of years later, our world is still here, the Good News of Salvation is still being preached to the ends of the earth and the movements of armies and political leaders will end up serving God’s master plan, not their own.  The book of Revelation makes it very clear that things are only going to get much more difficult as the Lord of Heaven’s Armies begins to defeat the nations and individuals that have become so confident of their own wisdom and power. Soon God’s light and power will be in control everywhere, and Jesus will reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.  But that is still not the end of the story.  There will be one more powerful rebellion at the end of the Millennium that will end our earth in fire and lead to a new heaven and a new earth.  Then it tells us that the Lord God Almighty will be the Lord of all and that the Lamb of God will be the light that will always be there so that The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory.(Revelation 21:24) Thank you Lord that there is so much that is so good still ahead.  Dear Lord, please help us to be still and at peace as we wait for you to fulfill your eternal plan.

Psalms 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” 11 The LORD of Heaven's Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.
