The Lord says, I will . . .

Good morning,
The Lord says, “I will . . .”
This week the developed world is vibrating with the reality of what happened in Paris without warning and without any concern on the part of the attackers for those who died while doing ordinary things in public places.  What happened is a master stroke on the part of the sworn enemy of God, and of those who live in God’s world.  One minute people were doing ordinary things, in ordinary places, when out of nowhere, people they did not know began to kill these ordinary people as though they were just targets on a shooting range. I experienced this very situation many years ago in Ethiopia when the Communist government began their campaign to bring the ordinary people under their control. I will never forget the day when one of the Ethiopian men working with me said, “Mr. Wisner, we never know when we go home at night if we will be alive to come back to work tomorrow.”  The whole nation was covered by a deep dark cloud of fear that was designed to force them into submission for fear of their lives. Our Enemy did his best to get us to live in constant fear of what might happen next, and how we might protect ourselves, just in case.

This demonic approach to controlling the masses may be new to the developed world that we are living in today, but it has been around since the beginning of time. The God of the Universe has been around since he created this wonderful universe, and he is never overwhelmed by the intensity of these attacks.  God is always present in every part of his world.  God is always loving and caring for those who love him and trust their Savior and Good Shepherd to be with them. The author of Psalm 91 gives God’s family a whole different view of life then the people around us who are doing their best to stay alive.  Our all powerful, loving Father gives us a whole collections of “I will’s” that are designed to get us to focus on him and not on our fears and our own weakness. In verses 14-16 the God who will never lie makes the following promises.  First he tells us, I WILL rescue those who love me.  Then he says, I WILL protect those who trust in my name.  Next he promises us, When they call on me, I WILL answer.  He goes on by saying, I WILL be with them in trouble.  And then he adds, I WILL rescue and honor them.  Finally in this passage he ends by saying, I WILL reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.  While the world may be shaking in their boots, God’s family can rest in the knowledge that their lives depend on the the Lord who says, I WILL.  Dear Lord, help us not to forget what you have promised those who love and trust you.

Psalms 91:14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. 15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. 16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.
