Why are the nations so angry?

Good morning,

I know it’s early in the week, but when was it that the God of Heaven last showed his power to the world in such a way that people all over the world still talk about it today? Today I saw a cartoon in a non religious paper that was based on the people of Israel walking through the Red Sea on their way out of the most powerful nation of their time, Egypt.  People still tell jokes about what happened then, as well as look back on the present country of Israel as having begun their journey away from slavery to the freedom of having a country they could call their own.  God showed up in such a dramatic way that our world still knows the story.  Of course they may have a twisted account of what happened, helped out by movies and books that told the story their way, but Egypt and Israel are still around today.  The reason I asked the question is to point out that the God of Heaven and Earth is about to do something so dramatic in our day that people in the future will have a new story to talk about even more impressive than the Jews escape from Egypt.

If you check the world news on almost any day, you will find yourself confronted with stories of nations, religions and individuals talking about their plans to wipe the little Satan and the big Satan off the earth.  We are being told of another Messiah that will come and conquer the world and bring his kind of peace to those who follow him.  They even include Jesus as one of his servants.  This is not new news to our creator God.  In fact in Psalm 2 he brings up the topic this way. Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans?  God knew what to expect at this point in history, so he even warned us what to look for. He said, The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the Lord and against his anointed one. Not only that but he quoted what they would be saying. “Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.”  God also tells us that all this won’t be any problem for him to deal with.  He says that he will laugh at them, scoff at them and then in anger he will rebuke them so strongly that they will be terrified by  his fierce fury.  I am convinced that what we are seeing happen in the middle east today is in preparation for the battle that God lays for us out in Ezekiel 38 and 39. The prophecy may be 2,500 years old, but all the elements of this historic event are all in place.  I suggest that you read these two chapters with a good commentary or study Bible and you will find that all the present day nations mentioned there are lined up against Israel today.  I believe that what is happening right now in our life time is the front porch of the rest of time.  Dear Lord, please help us to see and believe what you are doing and then be found faithful in obeying you day by day as we live with the outcome of this part of your plan for time.

Psalms 2:1 Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans? 2 The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the Lord and against his anointed one. 3 “Let us break their chains,” they cry, “and free ourselves from slavery to God.
