The light that will never go out

Good morning,

The Light of the world is Jesus

Christmas is over and now all the bright lights will start coming down and being put away for another year.  It helps us to remember that Christmas lights are based on the light that led the wise men to the light of the world, Jesus.  That bright light was able to shine because that light came from outside the darkness and pain that filled our world since sin began to do it’s best to put out the Light that began with the creation of the world.  The prince of darkness has always done his best to get us to look down at the pain and suffering that is around us, and forget to look up at the lights that God has planted in the heavens that can not be altered by anyone or any thing here on this earth.  The sun still comes up each morning no matter what has happened the night before.  Even in the darkness of night, the Light has created the moon and the uncountable stars to shine as a reminder that God’s lights always shine in the darkness and the darkness will never be able to extinguish it.(John 1:5)

The Apostle John reminded us that “The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.” (John 1:4) When John was writing to the people of his day, the political and moral situation of his world was almost as chaotic as it is today.  But what John wrote two thousand years ago is just as true today.  The God who created this world so long ago, and the God who was there when we were conceived so recently will never change his master plan no matter what sin does to try to defeat his eternal plans.  The hate and anger and cruelty that identifies those who hate God and his eternal family will never lead to the total destruction that energizes those who enjoy their rebellion against God.  The Apostle Paul reminds us that for those of us who are or will become children of God, we can be certain that what God begins, he finishes.  We are surrounded by darkness, but as we look up to the Savior who leads us and rely on the power of his Holy Spirit to strengthen us,
we will continue to be a part of his eternal plan until the day when Christ Jesus returns for his own. Dear Lord, please help us to Never Give Up on you and your eternal plan for us.

Philippians 1:6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
