The truth behind the morning fog.

Good morning,

While the rest of the United States is suffering from severe cold and snowy weather, we here in central California are dealing with with a very different problem.  At this time of year we often look out to see a blanket of fog hiding everything around us behind a white wet cloud that finally lifts up later in the day.  We hear noises, but we can’t be sure what is going on out there.  That fog is a good example of what our lives are like on a day by day basis.  We can see things around us today, but we really don’t know what the noises and news will lead to when we get to tomorrow.  Now that the world around us is filling up with all sorts of rumors and graphic pictures of problems outside our back yard, we find ourselves facing a fog of information designed to fire up our fears and leave us confused and worried about what will happen next.  The spiritual fog that we face is designed by our Enemy to get us to focus on ourselves as we try to adjust to “what might happen tomorrow.”

There is nothing new in the foggy, noisy conditions that we face in our world today.  Long ago our Lord told Isaiah, “ I have a plan for the whole earth, a hand of judgment upon all the nations. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has spoken—who can change his plans?  When his hand is raised, who can stop him?”(Isa. 14:26) Our Heavenly Father knows all the details of what has happened before, what is happening today, and what will happen in the future that fills out his perfect plan for everyone on the earth.  No matter what anyone says, God’s plan always works out his way.  I just read today of a nine step process that a mid eastern ayatollah has laid out for the conquest of Israel that sounds like something his followers are determined to make happen as soon as possible.  The problem with his plan is that the Bible already has told us about His plan for this new nation of Israel, and there is no room for any other outcome to succeed.(Ezekiel 38,39)  The Lord’s directions for those of us who are God’s kids is quite clear.  He wants us to say and believe, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”  That also means that, if the Lord wants them not to do something, it will never happen, because our God will never change His plans to suit anyone else, no matter how strong they look and how loud they shout.  Thank you Father for your loving control.

James 4:14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15 What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.”
