Good morning,
My times are in your hand; (Psalms 31:15)
The
idea of being at war is very old news indeed to anyone who is a child
of God and a genuine student of the Bible. The Bible tells us of war in
heaven and on earth from the beginning of time to the end of time. The
Devil hijacked a serpent to take his war against God in the heavens
into the perfect Garden of Eden and begin the war here on earth against
our Creator and his creation. At one point the battle became so intense
that God decided to bring a flood that would give the earth a clean
start, and Noah and his family the responsibility of carrying on the
human line of those who would chose to trust and obey the loving God
despite their inborn sin nature. The Bible is full of stories of the
faithful men and women who chose to follow God’s guidelines willingly,
and who then had to face the pressures from the rest of humanity whose
hearts were full of hatred for their Creator. King David was one of
these faithful followers who gave us the often quoted statement, “My times are in your Hand:” Actually, he wrote these words when surrounded by enemies and the full sentence is better understood as “My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly." (Ps. 31:15) NLT
David
was a man who actually knew his Creator. David knew it was the God of
the Bible who created the earth, not the prince of liars who hated his
Creator. David knew that the God of the Bible was the Creator and the
Sustainer of all that he created. In Psalm 2 and Psalm 33, to name a
few, he explained that the Lord would frustrate the plans of the nations
and defeat all their carefully made plans to take control of God’s good
earth. David knew that God had a master plan for his earth and that no
one or nothing would be able to change the story of the creation that
he began and that would continue on into eternity. What God had written
in his master plan for time and eternity could never be shaken or
defeated. Now in our generation, religions and nations are taking their
stand against God’s people and are doing their best to wipe out our
values and our lives whenever possible. Jesus, our Creator and Savior,
warned his followers “I have told you these things so that you won’t
abandon your faith. For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and
the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a
holy service for God. This is because they have never known the Father
or me.”(John 16:1-3) May we, like David, go on with our lives and service knowing that our future is in his all powerful hands.
Psalms 33:9
For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command. 10 The
Lord frustrates the plans of the nations and thwarts all their schemes.
11 But the Lord ’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be
shaken.
