Perfectly known and perfectly safe

Good morning,

Does it bother you that someone may be listening in to your private phone calls and watching where you are going as you travel around with your portable phone?  Does it bother you that someone, somewhere has access to all the stuff you have written on your computer to friends, fellow workers and a whole host of businesses that you have contact with on a daily basis?  Is if fair that someone, somewhere is able to record and file all of your Skype conversations or social media contacts without your permission?   Actually, the more I think about it the less the idea bothers me.  I haven’t lost my mind, and I certainly haven’t lived a perfect life, but I have come to realize that the Bible tells me that God has already put together a perfect record of everything that is going on in my life, including all my private thoughts.  Anything that is kept on me here on earth is going to be sketchy, biased in a negative way and only as useful as imperfect enemies or imperfect friends can put together.  The record that God keeps on his kids and on his enemies is flawless and complete in every detail.

When the Prophet Isaiah was writing in chapter 50 about the coming Messiah, he was also describing a lot of what is available to each of us who are filled and empowered by that same Holy Spirit.  There was no question that his enemies would always be hanging around him to collect any kind of information they could use to disgrace and shame him.  Because the Sovereign Lord was in control in his life, he was not controlled by the fear of what they would do or say.  His focus was fixed like stone on knowing and doing his Father’s will.  He knew that no matter what his enemies said or did, in the end they would not be able to put him to shame.  Jesus knew that he was here to do his Father’s will and could focus on doing just that. What they thought about him would all be proven to be wrong, and God’s justice would make everything right no matter what charges they brought against him.  Jesus knew that his accusers would appear before the Great White Throne, and would have nothing more to say about his loving ministry to a lost and dying world.  Their hate would lead to their shame, not his.  Dear Lord, please deliver us from our fears and help us to focus on loving and serving like Jesus did.

Isaiah 50:7 Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will not be put to shame. 8 He who gives me justice is near. Who will dare to bring charges against me now? Where are my accusers? Let them appear!
