Don't forget about The Rock

Good morning,

Is something true if I believe it with all my heart?  Those of us who read and study the Bible are surrounded by people who have a general sense of impending doom that leads them to find some prophet or ancient book or calendar that will tell them why they are so afraid of the future.  Now that we have a new Pope about to be elected, some folks are focusing on another ancient prophecy that says that the next Pope will be the final Pope.  Others are telling us that the 12th Imam is almost here and he will bring the whole world under his triumphant control.  Our Jewish friends are eagerly waiting for their coming Messiah and the Christian world is almost breathless with expectancy that Jesus is about to return for the Church.  Does the strength of our faith determine who will win out or is there something already fixed in place that will determine what is coming next no matter what we believe?

The God of the Bible, the God who created our universe, the God who is the same yesterday, today and forever, the God known as The Rock, told us over 2,500 years ago what to expect as our world spirals down through time toward the end.  This God never lies and he decided to give a great king, King Nebuchadnezzar a preview of what will happen in the future. God showed this king that there would be four major world powers that would reign on the earth and then there would be one more that would crush all these kingdoms into powder.  This would be caused by a rock cut out without hands that would, in the end, knock them all down and cover the whole earth with its power.  God told us what would happen, so what I believe or don’t believe will make no difference to what The Rock will actually do at the end of time.  The fact that so many people believe differently will not effect The Rock, it will either lead to faith in God and eternal life or faith in your chosen belief and facing an angry God who will give them eternal proof that they chose the wrong person or story to believe in.  May the Lord help us to continue to build our lives on our Savior, our Rock, no matter what others may believe.

Daniel 2:35 The whole statue was crushed into small pieces of iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold. Then the wind blew them away without a trace, like chaff on a threshing floor. But the rock that knocked the statue down became a great mountain that covered the whole earth.
