God's Heavenly library

Good morning,

Isn’t it is fascinating that people are becoming incredibly rich just collecting people’s personal information?  It seems that the most valuable part of our many social networks is the priceless information that they have gathered and made available to people trying to sell us something.  Then again many say that this information will become a rich resource for those who are determined to control our lives.  It helps to remember that if the electricity is shut off, none of the information will be available to anyone.  God has a very different system of keeping track of us that can never be corrupted or destroyed.  The Creator God of the universe has a perfectly safe library of all kinds of books that are filled with a complete record of everything that happens to anyone, anywhere, at any time, and are without any mistakes.  What’s even better is that the Judge who will be reading them is perfectly holy, perfectly loving and will never make a mistake in reading them or making a bad judgment based on what he reads.  The rewards for his family and the justice given to his enemies will be perfect in every way.

God’s people have known about these books for thousands of years.  King David wrote about the Book of Life in Psalms 69:28 and wrote again in Psalms 139:16 about individual books that cover the story of our entire lives and were finished long before we were born.  When Daniel was given his visions he was told of the books that would guide the Judge in Daniel 7:10.  Again in Daniel 12:1 we are told that he promised that all those whose names were written in the book will be rescued.  Again in Daniel 10:21 the Messenger told Daniel some of what was written in the Book of Truth.  In the last book of the Old Testament the Lord gave directions that a scroll (book) of remembrance was to be written that would include those who would honor his name. (Malachi 3:16)  In the New Testament, Paul writes about the Book of Life (Phil. 4:3) and when John wrote the book of Revelation, the Book of Life was mentioned five times. In Rev. 3:5 it tells us that everyone who is a part of God’s family will be written in this special book and in Rev. 13:8 it tells us that this book was finished before the world was created.  In Rev. 17:8 we are told that all those who are not in God’s family will not have their names written anywhere in the Book of Life and in Rev. 20:15 we are told that all these enemies of God will be thrown into the lake of fire for eternity.  I am so glad that our Eternal Judge will reward or punish each individual based on the perfect truth in his perfect library.

Revelation 20:12 I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.
