Looking ahead without fear

Good morning,

I love thinking ahead.  Since we are now a part of God’s eternal family, the future we face is not filled with dread and the fearful unknown.  It’s true that our limited human minds and the limited information in the Bible don’t tell us everything, but that is no reason to live like the world that tries to ignore the reality of life beyond time.  Religious people keep hoping they are right and wicked people hope the religious people are wrong, but neither of them spend any serious time finding out what God has told us plainly is just ahead.  One of the reasons I like to think ahead is that God is very clear in telling us that the bad guys always lose.  God showed King David that the wicked would end their lives like the chaff that was left over when the grain was harvested.   The harvesters waited to clean the grain until they had a windy day.  They would throw the dirty grain into the air and the wind would carry everything but the grain away.  God assures us that when the wind of his anger has finished it’s work, the wicked will have no part in our future.

Another reason I love to think ahead is what David said would happen to the godly.  The people that meet God’s standard of living by faith and not by sight will have the joy of living the rest of their eternal lives completely free from any ungodly influences.  There will be no more death.  There will be no more wicked angels.  There will be no dangers of any sort coming from others.  Whatever emotions we feel when we meet Jesus or come before God our Father, will not include the fears that attacked us here on earth.  No matter what assignments we are given, we will never again feel the fingers of fear that attacked our minds on earth when faced with new challenges.  Just think, we will be eternally free from the questions we faced here on earth about our worth or place in life. We will be free to worship and praise without ever wondering if we are off key or have bad theology.  We will always be aware of the love of our Father and the love of our Savior and we will never be jealous of anyone else who gets their attention.  May the Lord give us the hope and pleasure he intends for us as we think about what’s ahead for the godly.

Psalm 1:4 But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.  5 They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly.  6 For the LORD watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.
