Good morning,
Have you noticed that we are beginning to see the big ‘A’ show up on our news programs? Unhappy people all over the world are beginning to accept the idea that they know much better than their own governments how to make life really livable for the “99 %” of those who are not in power. In many places people are turning their backs on democracy and are moving toward the political ideal of freedom for the individual, known as anarchy. Their theory rests on the idea that you have to create a state of disorder in order to have a self centered authority system that will bring happiness to those who follow these beliefs. The theory is as old as Lucifer himself. It’s very interesting that the usual way of demonstrating this belief system is for people to raise their hands and shake their fists in the air as a show of defiance to the recognized governments involved. What they completely ignore is the fact that the God of creation takes responsibility for placing governments in place, and rebellion against them is seen by him as rebellion against his holy will.
When Isaiah was representing God over 2,500 years ago in Israel, he was surrounded by an incredible churn of kingdoms and governments. God gave him message after message warning people to stop their rebellion against him and follow his guidelines for living. People laughed at him, threatened him and more often then not ignored him. The people really didn’t care what the God of Israel had to say about anything going on in their lives unless he would promise them good things. In return, God gave Isaiah some promises of his own. He said, “I have a plan for the whole earth, a hand of judgment upon all the nations.” God knew then and knows now what is going on in every part of his created world. He knows what will come from all the rebellion and unbelief that energizes the ungodly nations who see themselves above the God of creation. He assured Isaiah that when the Lord of Heaven’s Armies speaks, no one will be able to change his plans. Isn’t it interesting that God uses the same sign language that the nations use, but for his own purposes. When his hand is raised, who can stop him? Later on in the same book, Isaiah complained, “O Lord, they pay no attention to your upraised fist.” Believe me, they will. When God speaks in anger, there is no power anywhere great enough to defeat his plans.
Isaiah 14:26 “I have a plan for the whole earth, a hand of judgment upon all the nations. 27 The LORD of Heaven’s Armies has spoken— who can change his plans? When his hand is raised, who can stop him?”
Isaiah 26:11 “O LORD, they pay no attention to your upraised fist.”
