Seeing Him in his glory

Good morning,

I have been looking forward to seeing Jesus since I was 8 years old, but I guess I haven’t given a lot of thought to what to expect when I get there.  I know from reading in both the Old and New Testaments that seeing Jesus will be an awesome experience.  I know that he is Holy and that meeting him face to face will be an experience more awesome then anything we have ever faced in this life.  Just think, we will actually be seeing the Creator who spoke our world and universe into existence.   What’s more, he is the Savior who personally paid the awful price for all the bad choices we made so that we could have what we wanted in our life on earth.  The word Majesty will come alive as we stand in the presence of God, the Son, who has all authority in heaven and on earth and will be the judge who will decide the value of all we have done.

When the prophet Isaiah was thinking about seeing God, he started by mentioning some of what I have mentioned but then he went much further than that.  God reminded Isaiah that when God’s family sees him, they would be seeing their Good Shepherd.  He is the same Shepherd who has been with us since our first heartbeat and the one who will be there to greet us when our hearts finally fail us and we cross over from time into eternity.  God reminds us that he will be there to meet all of the needs we have when we get to the place he has prepared for us.  He will be the gentle Shepherd who will care for us like a shepherd here on earth carrying a helpless lamb in his arms.  He will flood us with his love, his care, his joy, his peace.  We will never, ever feel even the smallest twinge of fear once he brings us into his personal presence.  All of our stress and strain, sorrow and pain, confusion and anger will melt away as we enter the presence of the Lover of our souls.  Not only that, he will personally lead us gently into the new, eternal home he has lovingly prepared for us.  We will always know and never doubt that this is where we really belong.  Praise God, he’s coming very soon.  Maybe today.

Isaiah 40: 10 Yes, the Sovereign LORD is coming in power.  He will rule with a powerful arm.  See, he brings his reward with him as he comes.  11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart.  He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.
