Personal Wisdom

Good morning,

Well, last week a tired old satellite that quit working in 2005 finally made it back to earth in a ball of fire.  Even with all of our high powered technology, we still don’t know where all the surviving pieces landed.  Since it had no power left on board, there was no way it could be controlled to make a “safe” reentry.  It came down where God had planned for it to land.  That is exactly where we are in the history of our world right now.  Even though we have developed powerful computers and software to keep track of what we know and what is going on around us, there is no way our world’s brightest minds can stop the melt down of our cultures and the collapse of the systems that keep them going.  Long ago, our modern cultures abandoned the idea of a creator God that energizes our lives and is in control our our destiny.  They were sure that their plans and their gods would keep their world running they way thought it should.  They thought that their wisdom would be enough to keep life on earth under control, but they are wrong.  They don’t have the wisdom it takes to make it work.  Only the God of the universe has that kind of wisdom and power.

Will the foolishness of the world take us down with them?  Not at all.  The fear of God that has been planted in our hearts and minds by God’s Spirit gives us the sure foundation of eternal wisdom that will lead us away from this disaster.  Our Father God will never lose control of any of us.  God’s trustworthy Word was designed to lay out the wisdom we need for following him day by day.  We don’t need to worry about the unreliability of our worldly leaders because our Eternal Leader has an individual plan for each of his kids for each day of each of our lives. The God of infinite power gladly gives us what we need to stay on course.  His written Word has painted us a reliable big picture of what is yet to come, and has promised that when we depend on him for day by day wisdom, he will give us the strength and wisdom we need to do our part.  Praise God!  While those around us are quaking with fear, we can live a life marked by joy, confidence and praise as we watch our God defeat all of his enemies.  Praise God!  We, as obedient children, can confidently praise him today and forever.

Psalm 111:10 Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom.  All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.  Praise him forever!
